Spring Fever:Sweet and Simple Bunny Vignette

Picture
I am very pleased with how this little sweetie turned out.  I am also happy to share how very simple and quickly this piece came together.
Picture
Materials Used:
  • small cake plate  (I made this particular cake plate from a saucer, candlestick, Gorilla Glue, and spray paint.)  More on this in another "How To" post:  Cake Stand Beauties Made Easy!
  • little bunny
  • reindeer moss
  • mini foam eggs
  • small rocks
These materials are my personal preference on this given day.  Maybe you would like the look of traditional Easter basket grass with its iridescence and sparkle.  You might have a cute ceramic bunny of foil rabbit figure.  This is definitely a piece that anyone can add their own special style and touch.  The only hard fast rule is:  Have fun creating!
Picture
Step 1:  Add reindeer moss to plate.  Form a "wreath" of moss on the edge of the plate.  Leave the middle bare for the placement of the bunny.

Step 2:  Add the bunny to the center.

Step 3:  Add small eggs to arrangement.  My personal preference was for speckled, mini, pastel eggs.  I was lucky enough to find a fairly large amount of these as foam eggs for less than $3.00.  At first, I was turned off by the package because there were also orange eggs in the mix.  The orange eggs didn't figure into my design, but then I  realized, that this was such a good value, that even if I didn't use the orange eggs, I had a good buy.  My back up plan for eggs was to consider using real, speckled candy eggs.  Of course, I would discard these after I was finished with the vignette.  Each succeeding year I would add "fresh" candied eggs.

Step 4:  I added a few rocks as another natural and tectural elements.

At this point, I thought this vignette was complete.  I went on to do another Fostoria dish vignette and realized that the Fostoria piece needed some sticks added to it.  I went into our yard and picked up some sticks and clipped some twigs from young trees.

Here is my sweet bunny vignette with sticks.  What do you think?  This arrangement came together in just a few minutes.
Material Sources:
  • Small bunny:  Tuesday Morning
  • Reindeer Moss:  JoAnn Fabrics, Michaels, Dollar Tree
  • Small, mini foam eggs:  Pat Catans
  • Cake stand:  Made from a candlestick purchased at Goodwill for $1.00, a saucer I had, Gorilla glue and Rustoleum White Primer Paint, and Rustoleum Metallic Pearl White Spray Paint from Home Depot.
  • Twigs:  my own backyard

This little beauty will be placed on our family room bookshelf.  Although, I enjoy moving pieces around, and so this piece could easily find a home in the living room, bedroom, upstairs hall...That's the fun of creating a versatile piece like this.

Have fun creating!
